What does Summer Resort Camp Look Like?

Jennifer Engleman
This summer our Summer Resort program has looked a little different from years past. Due to COVID-19, our class size per camp is smaller and activities have been changed to meet current state restrictions. All campers received a camp t-shirt along with a Falcon Gaiter to wear. Students had exercise breaks by class that are reminiscent of P.E. classes decades ago.
Safety precautions have been put into place for drop-off and pick-up. New handwashing and sanitizing stations have been installed outside of classrooms and in the courtyard. Cleaning is done to thoroughly clean between cohort classes using the same equipment. Students are given individual supplies instead of sharing as a group. Our community has shared so many positive comments with us about their experience and how their students are feeling.
Although there are changes, students have loved seeing their friends again. They have been so excited to be back on campus and interacting with friends. It is amazing to see how resilient our students have been while wearing masks/gaiters and spaced at a distance from each other. It gives all of us a little glimpse into the future to envision what classes will look like during the academic school year and how we can adapt to new situations. It goes along with our IB Curriculum to be open-minded and think of new solutions for our global environment.
