Finding ways to stay connected is very important during this time of quarantine. Dr. Carmen Andersen and Jim Cox came up with a fun way for students, families and staff to wave hello to each other from a distance and express their feelings of missing each other through posters, decorations with balloons and shouts of hello through masks.
Over 100 Faculty and Staff members parked along the route with cars decorated, signs and masks on to wave hello to their beloved students and families. Cars full of students, siblings, alumni, and family pets slowly drove by and waved hello. Originally planned for an hour, the event ended up being two hours because of the large turnout. Some cars wrapped around the side streets for an hour wait just to make the parade route which took 15 minutes to drive through. About 400 cars came through the parade route.
It is clear that we miss our community! Thank you to everyone who participated and made this event so special.
