Kristina Gonzales '12 graduated from Mater Dei Catholic High School in 2016 with a 4.3 GPA, recognized as a scholar athlete and was a member of the Associated Student Body and National Honors Society. She was awarded for completing over 400 hours of community service, and during that time began her involvement with RAD (Rising Above Disabilities) camp, which she continues to be involved with through college. Kristina is a senior at Boston University where she is majoring in behavior and health and minoring in Spanish studies. Kristina has helped to raise thousands of dollars for The Be Positive Foundation, which provides financial assistance for families with a child who has cancer and funds pediatric cancer research. Through this same organization, she recently traveled to Peru on a six-day trek through the Andes mountains to Machu Picchu to represent their fundraising team. She is now a campus leader and will be going to Nepal next May to trek Everest Base Camp in support of the same charity.
