As we celebrate St. Mary’s 25th Anniversary at Galapalooza, our wish is to have many expenses of the event covered by sponsorships and underwriting. This, along with tickets sales, enables the funds raised that evening to go directly to the programs that support St. Mary’s and our students. Families and companies alike have an opportunity to support the school through sponsorships, underwriting and donations.

The benefits of sponsoring a table include upgraded wine, premier seating, guaranteed seating with friends, recognition in publications and this year only, a special 25th Anniversary commemorative gift. A table may be purchased by a family, a business or syndicated by a group of parents.

Each year our gala offers our community a variety of unique experiences that have proven to be successful in years past. Auction Items are donated by our families and local organizations looking to reach target markets, increase awareness and gain exposure for their business. Check out our Auction Wishlist for ideas!

The St. Mary’s Gala is an ideal means to reach your target markets, increase awareness and gain exposure for your business. Becoming a sponsor, is also a wonderful way for St. Mary’s families to support this special event.

Our goal for the 2019 Gala is to have many expenses of the event underwritten or have the items or services donated. There are various items or services that can be donated such as wine, parking, décor, photography, printing and much more.

Sponsor a Teacher
We love for all of our teachers to attend the gala. Your sponsorship will go into a pool that enables us to offer a free evening to all of our teachers. Thank you!

In order to meet printing and publishing deadlines, all donations will need to be received by March 15, 2019.

Support St. Mary's

The foundation of St. Mary’s School is its crystal-clear mission to provide an International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum that prepares and inspires our students to become courageous, caring, global citizens and enlightened leaders of tomorrow.

Educating a child requires more than talented teachers and an outstanding curriculum. A St. Mary’s education would not be the incredible experience that it is without the investment of gifts and time from our parents. You can make a positive and meaningful difference in your child’s education and in the life of our school community by partnering with us.

We ask for our community’s support of St. Mary’s School in two meaningful ways—-

Engagement
  • Parent Teacher Fellowship (PTF)
  • Fun and Fundraising Events – Spring Gala and Golf Classic
  • Other Volunteer Opportunities

Philanthropy
  • The St. Mary’s Fund – 100% Parent Participation
  • Other Giving Opportunities

Read the Guide on Engagement and Philanthropy to learn more about this partnership between St. Mary’s School and our families.

    St. Mary's 2018 Gala - Havana Nights

On May 4, 2018, at the Fashion Island Hotel, we were transported to Old Havana where fedoras and cigars were a staple and rum was served at noontime meals. We enjoyed an evening of Cuban beats, Latin food and authentic drinks underpinned by the casual yet festive atmosphere that is Havana.

As guests entered the pre-function area, they were greeted with a steel drum and complimentary mojitos as they were able to peruse the silent auction items. As the ballroom opened, the smells of multiple food stations called the guests in and they casually enjoyed Cubano Sandwiches, multiple salads, Chicken al Pastor Tacos and traditional Cuban rice and beans. This provided a dining experience with an engaging and conversational atmosphere. Following our traditional Fund-A-Need and live auction, the dance floor came alive with the beats of our returning band, Undercover.

Our evening successfully raised a total of $392,000 from live and silent auctions, sponsorships, ticket sales, opportunity drawing and Fund-A-Need. We look forward to the upgraded and new security features that were funded on this evening. Many thanks to each and every one of you who contributed to our Havana Nights Gala.

  • Get Involved - PTF

Our Parent Teacher Fellowship is a volunteer organization that underscores the value placed on community at St. Mary’s. From fun events to service projects and parent education, the PTF is the life of our close-knit community. The PTF provides a wide range of volunteer opportunities throughout the year.

Our PTF works closely with Dr. Carmen Anderson and the parent community to bring a Parent Education Series that is relevant and timely for our parent community. We look forward to engaging and informative sessions this year.

We encourage our entire community to attend and/or volunteer at PTF events. The following are the current PTF community participation opportunities for the 2018-19 school year.

  • St. Mary's Fund

You hold one of the keys to unlocking opportunities for students at St. Mary's School.
Together, through our generous gifts to the St. Mary’s Fund, we unlock more opportunities to prepare, empower and inspire each and every student to realize his or her greatest potential and become an exemplary citizen of the world.
Tuition alone does not cover the cost of providing a deeply transformative education for St. Mary’s students. Gifts to the St. Mary’s Fund help unlock opportunities for our students by supporting those things essential to a St. Mary’s education:

    • Small class sizes ensuring more personal attention
    • Outstanding academics and experiential learning programs
    • Recruitment and retention of an exceptionally dedicated and well-trained faculty and staff
    • Financial aid
    • Innovative teaching practices
    • Cutting-edge science and technology
    • Enhanced theatre, music and visual arts opportunities
    • Strong athletics program
    • And most importantly, the opportunity to inspire and empower our students to make a change in the world.

You hold one of the keys that opens doors for our students to not only think, but really know deep down, that they can be astronauts, ambassadors, engineers, thinkers, writers, singers, artists, scientists, athletes, actors and leaders. You hold the key to send a message that nothing can stand in their way and that they WILL make a difference in the world.

2017 Celebrated 20 Years of Golf

The St. Mary's Golf Classic celebrated 20 years of golf this past year. We were hosted by our local Aliso Viejo Country Club, tucked into a neighborhood where many of our families reside. We enjoyed some special additions this year in celebration of our 20 years of golf: a silent raffle with items such as a wine tasting and a Callaway golf bag, fun games at many holes, breakfast courtesy of Chronic Tacos and a Travis Mathew pop-up shopping experience. We hosted a record number of golfers and were supported by a record number of volunteers. The day culminated with a cocktail reception and awards. It was a fun and engaging day.
  • Ways to Give

There are many ways to speed your gift to support St. Mary’s. If you don’t see an option below that best fits with your family’s needs and tax circumstances, we will be happy to discuss other alternatives with you. As a 501c3 corporation, your gifts to St. Mary’s are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowable by law.

    Cash or Check

The majority of families choose to make their gift to St. Mary’s by check either as a single donation or as payments towards a pledge. Simply make your check payable to St. Mary’s and deliver or mail it to the Advancement Office.

    Credit Card

Make your donation or pay your pledge with a Visa, MasterCard or American Express card online (click here!) or visit the Advancement Office.

    Pledges

Pledges are a popular way for families to demonstrate their commitment to support St. Mary’s early in the campaign, yet delay payment for a later date that works better for their family or maximizes a tax deduction. Pledges can be fulfilled by cash, check, credit card or securities in one installment or monthly installments before a specified pledge payment period. Pledges can be made online. (Click here!)

    Matching Gifts

Many corporations demonstrate their support to St. Mary’s by matching their employees’ donations to our school. Matching gifts can double your contribution to St. Mary’s. Donors are recognized for the total of the combined amount of their gift plus their employer matching gift. Please consult your company’s human resource to inquire about a matching program or the Advancement Office so we can research that information for you.

    Restricted Gifts

These contributions are restricted by the donor for a particular project or program that has been identified by the school as an area of need.

    Gifts of Securities

Gifts of appreciated stock and/or securities represent a two-fold savings opportunity. Donors avoid paying capital gains taxes on the increased values of their stocks. In addition, donors receive a tax deduction for the full market value of the stock on the date of the gift.

    Planned Giving

Planned gifts are made now and distributed in the future. Including St. Mary’s in an estate plan provides for the long-term fiscal health of St. Mary’s and gives donors the opportunity to receive immediate or deferred tax benefits while leaving a legacy. All parents and grandparents are encouraged to consider naming St. Mary’s in their will and making the school aware of their gift.

    Capital Campaign

To realize goals identified in the school’s Strategic Plan, the Board of Trustees will, when needed, initiate a capital campaign in order to meet facilities, program and endowment needs that the school cannot pay for out of tuition funds. A Capital Campaign will support major projects such as new campus construction and renovations to maintain state-of-the-art facilities. Capital campaign gifts are significantly larger than annual fund contributions and therefore are pledges paid over a multi-year period.

    Corporate and Foundation Giving

St. Mary’s strives to attain grants and funding from foundations and corporate giving entities for school needs. Because these grants are quite competitive, it is extremely helpful to have a contact within the funding organization. Please let us know if you or your extended family has contacts with philanthropic agencies.
