The Festival of Arts selected six St. Mary’s Students art pieces to be showcased with other winners at the annual Junior Art Exhibit at the famous Festival of Arts in Laguna Beach. Congratulations to our six students who were chosen from thousands of submissions representing schools throughout Orange County, Grades K-12.
The theme at The Festival of Arts this summer is California Impressionism. Our Grade 4 students annually visit the Irvine Museum to view their collection of California Impressionist Art and witness, up close and personal, techniques of the plein-air painter, Jeff Sewell.
The Junior Art Exhibit has become regarded as one of the highlights of the summer show that began in 1947. The exhibit encourages the importance of continuing arts education in our schools. Artists are commended on their excellence in fine art. Each student receives free admission with up to 5 guests for the entire season which starts July 5 and runs through September 1, 2018.
Our art teacher, Roxanne Kane, was honored this year at the festival on the Festival of Arts’ Honor Roll Wall. Thank you for directing and inspiring our students!
