Learning and Support Teams
Learning and support services are available for students who require assistance as they strive to meet higher academic or behavioral expectations. The Center for Learning (C4L) at St. Mary's bridges the disciplines of psychology and education to provide research-based solutions for learning, processing, and social/emotional needs of children and adolescents.
Goals of the Center for Learning:
- Early identification of learning differences
- Recommend and provide early intervention strategies for home and school
- Help students better understand their individual style
- Provide ongoing communication between school and home
- Provide teaching strategies consistent with school standards to support students with learning differences
- Provide on campus educational therapy for identified students
C4L utilizes neuropsychological assessment results to develop a learning plan for the student, parents and teachers focused on the student's individual needs. Students work one-on-one with the C4L staff to address areas of concern, and progress is monitored against goals established for the student. The C4L team works as an additional partner in collaboration with the student, parents and teachers focused on the objective of maximizing a student's potential. The individual attention and support provided by the C4L team has proven to affect positive change in students' study habits, academic performance and overall self-confidence.
The center recently received a generous donation from The Hausman Foundation creating a learning laboratory with assistive technology available to all of our students. Click here to learn more about the lab and the foundation.
