Service Learning
The concept and practice of service learning is a vital component of the school’s philosophy. Service and learning are blended in such a way that reinforces, improves and strengthens each student with goal of achieving a well-rounded education. St. Mary’s service learning programs are integrated into the school curriculum promoting sensitivity, awareness, and a willingness for involvement in serving others. Through these structured serving experiences, students develop a personal value system to guide them to become thoughtful members of the community.
Service opportunities can include distribution of care packages, participation at soup kitchens, tutoring children at other schools and services to others in need. St. Mary’s recognizes that the strongest communities are made up of caring and involved people. With service learning as part of the educational curriculum, these innovative projects demonstrate to students the difference they can make in their communities now and for the future.
