Preschool
Preschool is the first step in a young child's educational journey.

We provide a safe and secure environment in which to introduce each child into a school setting. Our Preschool and Junior Kindergarten programs concentrate on building social, emotional, physical, cognitive and spiritual growth of students. Through a combined academic and developmental curriculum, we provide a nurturing environment in which children learn and develop a sense of community and belonging.
Our curriculum is designed to prepare children for St. Mary’s full-day Kindergarten program. As an International Baccalaureate World School, our curriculum is based around the Primary Years Programme of the IB Programme and is presented in an inquiry-based environment. We introduce the children to language, mathematics, and scientific academics at an age-appropriate level.
Children also have the opportunity to explore spiritual themes and concepts, expand their knowledge of social studies, and express their creativity and imagination through dramatic play. Throughout the day, the children have the opportunity to engage in both teacher-directed and child-initiated activities.
We find that this range of opportunities creates a stimulating and challenging environment that meets the needs of each child by introducing new concepts and activities while allowing them to explore independently. Children are encouraged to learn self-reliance that builds confidence as they experience success in their accomplishments.
Our Preschool teachers at St. Mary's have Early Childhood Education training and follow an inquiry-based approach to instruction. The Preschool holds dual accreditation with the National Association for the Education of Young Children and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
